Guidelines
Submission guidelines for the Written Word are as follows:
* Cover Letter or E-mail.
*
Please include your name and contact info.
*
Word Count if short story.
*
E-mail submission in rtf, MSWord or WordPerfect format.
*
Hard copy submissions accepted if sent by mail.
*
Submit only one story at a time
*
Submit no more than five poems at one time.
*
Maximum 10,000 words
*
Will consider serializing stories longer than 10,000 words
and novellas. Please contact first before submitting.
*
Allow up six weeks for a response. If we haven't responded
in six weeks, feel free to follow up with an e-mail query.

Payment
The Written Word is a paying market.
* Poetry: Payment is $3 per poem.
*
Short Stories: Payment is 1c per word.
Rights
The
Written Word does NOT buy ownership of any submitted materials,
nor owns any submitted materials, published in each edition.
The Written Word only gets One-Time Publishing Rights.
That is The Written Word has the exclusive rights to any
submitted materials from the time it is accepted for publication,
to the time it is published. During this time the author
may not submit the accepted material to other venues or
allow it to be published or duplicated. Once the material
has been published, all rights revert back to the author.
At this point, The Written Word has no more rights to the
materials.
