BEYOND REPAIR

NOVEMBER 2008 #15

*******

with humility
now so rare
I witness the Earth's
rebirth
once more
as She dons
her perennial garment
of greens
all around me

I wonder
if we're worth
the effort
of Her chore
any more
as She gazes
across a scene
where our poisonous
presumptions
taint Her streams
and atmosphere

as though matricide
where the essence
of our dreams
and consumption
of Her soul
the long-term goal
of a sick society
ever destined
for despair
and poverty

beyond repair
