THE RIVER

Our kids can’t play in the green, green grass
can’t swim in the poison river
does any one care for this world we share
have we nothing left to give her?
the stream grows dark from the stones we cast
each insult we deliver
this makes more mine black bottom line
greed can’t care for the river
too soon no one does
too soon we’ve lost what was
coz it don’t pay coz we can’t say
just how in Hell much is the river?
is there nothing we can do about it?
is there even any reason to doubt it?
there’s a new way we can find
to re-live this state of
re-live this state of mind
just as it falls in the rain
its flowing in our veins
it flows through you and me
as it seeks
seeks the sea
as we
flow back to
the sea...
