Drip,
drip, drip - it's raining again.
England's familiar anthem
Stochastic rhythm bringing life
Refreshing neat manicured lawns
Watering farmers' dry crops
And keeping our rolling hills green
Cricketers running for cover
Umbrellas unfurl all 'round
We've heard it before - "rain stopped play"
Water channelling down windscreens
Distorting bright traffic lights
And blurring the world passing by
At Wimbledon, a rain delay
Covers team charge 'cross Court One
Their summer tradition each June
Ends children's hopes of cycle rides
Sitting by windows, staring
Waiting for the clouds to pass by
The streams flow fast, the rivers swell
Sandbags come out for flood defence
Drains overflow, roads fit for boats
Drip, drip, drip, it's raining again
How many times have I heard
Its splashes, its trinkling and spray
